Phyno - Fada Fada ft. Olamide [Video Review]

in: Olamide Phyno at November 06, 2016

We've known Phyno for his dramatical styles and so also is Olamide we've known as "Bado." This video delivers a pure wave of entertainment.  Let's begin with this review, and on to the next step is the story review.

Story Review

Phyno performed brilliantly with is the story, as there's something very different this time with the other thanksgiving videos. We can see Phyno thanking God all through and-and stating how he made it into the entertainment industry.

Phyno's only sings in Igbo dialect and Pidgin. So, a foreigner may not understand what the song is all about. "I come from East enter street brother you know," "I turn to beast you already know." East is a region for Igbo citizens, and coming to Lagos from a place as far as that and also busting into the scene or becoming a music star is something to thank God for.

Don't forget that Olamide also has his own part to play in this video. He is also seen calling out to Governor Ambode of Lagos State, thanking him for his support. Olamide's phrase - "Since I lost my daddy na em don adopt me o," that's just not true, I don't ever recall the current Governor adopting him, and it's also not in the news. The phrase is just part of the rhymes to make the music more interesting.

First Impression

When this video started playing, the only thing that came to my mind was what's this all about know. I can see traditionalists all dressed up in their costumes and standing still in the first scene. The sense is nothing to feel down about, it only makes you more curious about what's going to happen in the next scene, which is a pass for me.

The setting in the first scene is cool, the location they used is cool and the 14 inches Televisions made it even COOLER! lol. Phyno's dressing is always funny, and I'm sure the girls would love is long beards.

Video Quality

The video quality is crisp, and it has other lower quality for people on a budget data bundle plan. The cameraman position is perfect and the targeting angle is also perfect - 100% from me.

As for special effects, I can't see much. Although if it I were to be the one editing this video, I wouldn't use that filter used in the video. The filter for outdoor shooting should be different from indoor, maybe the editor didn't notice.

Act

The actors a very on point - just the common way of saying they were excellent. I particularly love the design of the atmosphere around them, the performers costumes, its tradition already. I'm sure you didn't skip the displays of the performers, like the one swallowing fire - nice.

After reviewing the video, taking a closer look at the first impression, the story, video quality and the performers acting, this video deserves  a score of  8 out of 10.

Wizkid – Ojuelegba Video Review

in: Wizkid at November 04, 2016

I have been unable to continue writing reviews since a little over  a week ago as a result of a little health problem. I am alright now, fit to continue on my little adventure of writing music reviews.

Last year when this video was released, I listed to it’s audio repeatedly over and over again. I just couldn’t get enough of it when I was in the mood. How time flies – it’s another ember period now and I will surely start reviewing more recent videos.

This video was shot by Clarence Peter of Capital Dreams Pictures. I will now proceed to the next stage of this post – First impression.

First Impression

When I heard the news on Nairaland about Wizkids new video then, I immediately went to YouTube to watch it. Well, it wasn’t all a disappointment from the very first few scenes I saw Wizkid walking down the to board a bus. The first thing that caught my attention was the filter, the filter didn’t quite match the atmosphere of the environment, it made the video look dull.

Story Review

If you have ever been to Lagos in Nigeria and familiar with its towns, you will know the ghettos can be turned into a world of art when you handle a video camera, and that is what Clarence has done. People living in Lagos can relate more to this.

This video is showing Wizkid illustrating how the guys in Ojuelegba (one of the famous ghettos in Lagos) do their hustles, precisely how he did his before eventually blowing and becoming a superstar. In Yoruba mixed with English language, he says he is still thankful to God even in his condition.

Video Quality

The video is in HD quality; it also has other variations of quality. The filter template applied to the makes the video looks very dull and we know to his fans this video is so good. I’m not a fan of Wizkid though, and I have no sentiment when reviewing videos.

The cameraman positions a good, but the video angle targeting is poor.  There are no special effect, which if added would make the video look even worse.

You would know a video that is interesting just by reading the review, more like a phone review thing. This video is not interesting.

Act

There is nothing special, there are no dancers, no models – nothing. Although he managed to pull this video off with a little crew. There a few scenes that do not match with what the video is talking about, and for this reasons, I hereby rate this video 4.4 out of 10.

Flavour - Gollibe [Video review ]

in: Flavour at October 21, 2016

This video has been available since 2015, it’s a bit old but with no review. This video is worth the time of reviewing. The master of love is here in this very neat video.

First Impression

From the start of the video, like you can see in the picture I used for this review. I knew instantly what this video was all about, It’s obvious from the start of the tune that it’s a slow song, but I didn’t have an idea how it’ll be executed.

Story Review

When I saw the girl walking down the road, I knew something was up, the bride as usual. In African culture, it is required of a prince to marry from his village. The man Mr Flavour just got back in town to do the required – getting married because he was due for marriage.

In African culture, when it’s a prince time to find his bride, all the best girls assemble for a parade to display themselves to the prince, then anyone of the contestants the prince takes liking into will be selected. After picking the bride, a marriage ceremony will be held where the king and queen pour the blessings on the new couple.

But, something different happened in the parade.  Flavour choose a girl he had had an eye on when she suddenly showed up among the crowd, she didn’t participate in the parade. He stood up, walked up to where she was and picked her out to be his bride.

Video Quality

The video is HD and very impressive. The positions of the cameraman are perfect for shooting the video for its culture purpose. There doesn’t seem to be so much effect, which looks good for the video and makes it really cultural.

Act

Acting is okay, but not in every scene of the video. The girls acted perfectly with a little tint of comedy, especially in the stream and the parade contest scenes. Mr Flavours act is not perfect which didn’t make the video look its best.

This video is definitely a “Yes” from me. Everything is perfectly assembled. The video drama is excellent and this video deserves a score of 7.3 out of 10.

The Weekend - Starboy Video Review

in: The Weekend at October 21, 2016

If you haven’t watched this video, go check it out on YouTube right now. I like this video alright, not too much things to show.

First Impression

Normally, I love The Weekend and his songs, they are all great. When I launched the video, the first thing I see is inappropriate for teenagers and that’s a thumb down from me – assassination isn’t a good way to begin a video. But after that scene, the way the video went was cool and he reminded me of a very close friend I haven’t seen for some time now. When I see him I’ll tell him I saw his twin brother.

So, that start is negative for me, nothing really special that gave me away, just that the song is really nice. The Weekend starts by adjusting his jacket and gloves, that’s still nothing to get me up, but might get the girls though.

Video Quality

Now to the main part that’s going to keep me talking for a while. The quality of the video is crisp. The video positions are at best for the type of video we are talking about.  Forwarded to 1:15 minutes of the video, the way he dances past that wall frame with the men on helmets is top notch.

Mostly his dance moves and his act is what makes this video great. The position of the cameraman when he strolls his way down the passage admiring the wall frames is at best. But I can’t help to notice that his lyrics doesn’t rhyme with his video, and even with that, the video is not boring.

Then he comes to the place where the crosses rest upon, he his attracted to it and he starts to destroy everything he admired with the crosses. It really doesn’t make any sense to destroy it, but with the budget for this video, I’ll say that the producer has produced a nothing worthy of re-watching countless times.

Now for him and cat to that’s been waiting to get out. He gets to the garage and gets into his car and drives out. To be realistic and not judge because we are fans, that looks utterly dumb, right from the beginning of the video nothing rhymed with his lyrics.

Nothing happened until the end of the video, except his cat changing into a wild cat. I don’t really understand the message that’s trying to pass there though, probably because there’s no meaning to it. The video goes on showing him drive on the lonely highway in his beautiful car. That’s the end.

This video might seem interesting, but the act and meaning of the lyrics don't match. All there is to this video is the nice song. I would rate this video 6/10, and the reason for the 6 is because of the video quality. The Weekend needs provide better videos for his fans.
